Here is my first post of a weekly series I am starting featuring kitchen and cooking tips! Tomato paste is in every kitchen. I find that the best way to buy it is in a tube. You can toss the tube in your fridge and use as needed – it keeps for a long time. Unfortunately, sometimes I forget to pick it up at the Italian market near my house (Papi’s… it’s such a great little place!) and I have to buy one of those little cans...

I always like to have croutons on hand. You can make flavourful bread crumbs in a hurry by tossing them in a blender or food processor. They dress up any salad and are so much better than crackers in soup! Once you make your own croutons, you will never buy the awful boxes they sell at the supermarket.
