Hi, I’m Tanya – the creator of this blog and the website Lady Bones Online. This blog is about some of the different hats that I wear and the things I am doing and learning. I thought I’d share my experiences being:

CHEF: I’m not actually a chef, but I love to cook for my family and friends. I did take a little bit of culinary school many years ago and I read a lot of cook books and cooking related magazines. I share lots of recipes on my blog in the hopes that it will inspire you to cook some of these meals for your friends and family. Most of my recipes are super quick and easy because that’s all I have time for right now!
*I’m sad to report, I’ve been cooking less than ever. I’ve been insanely busy, and I’ve opted for super simple meals and more take out and pizza nights than I’d like to admit. Also, the hubby has started making the odd meal! I finally baked bread again the other day, and remembered how easy it was!! I actually have an every QUICKER bread recipe now, that I hope to post soon. I’ve been having healthy protein shakes for breakfast most mornings, which makes me feel like I am getting everything I need even if I end up snacking for lunch and having pizza for dinner. I’m finding that I have more energy than ever when I have a healthy shake for breakfast, and I treat myself a few times a week to my fave meal – big breakfast (over easy eggs, sausage, toast, cheese, tomato slices) a few days a week for lunch. I’ll post some awesome shake recipes soon too!
ENTREPRENEUR: I have started a business called Two Crafty Chicks with my friend Val. We make gifts like bath and beauty products, journals and agendas, cards, paper bows and right now we are working on our own line of scrapbook papers. We are having a great time building the business and we’re having lots of success so far. I also create my own websites, including Lady Bones Online and Two Crafty Chicks and do some affiliate marketing that helps to pay the bills. I’d love to publish a book someday and sell my own acrylic paintings… but one thing at a time!
*Affiliate marketing blew up – it started making me consistent money, and got as good as 18,000 in one month! I’ve learned from my experience with Google last summer though, and diversified. My web desing business (LadyBonesWebDesign.com) has been consistently busy and challenging and enjoyable all at once! In progress – a Blackberry theme, more icon sets, more websites, more social media for businesses and getting more into graphic design!!
BOOKWORM: I am absolutely obsessed with books. Books you can read, books you can write in, all books. I have a HUGE collection and although I probably couldn’t read them all in a lifetime, I can’t seem to resist buying more. I like the way they look, piled up on my bedside table, lined up on bookshelves and spilling into little stacks on the floor. I make time to read every day. I love to read in a big bubble bath with a glass of wine best! Reading is such a great way to relax and escape from your life for a little while.
HOUSEKEEPER: This is not necessarily a title I enjoy. I actually despise housework most of the time and I honestly think that I could be doing much more valuable things with my time, but alas, it must be done. I am also running out to buy any product that promises to make the housework faster and easier and I’m finding little short cuts along the way too. I’m not Martha and this is one are where I am definitely NOT a perfectionist but I also know that a messy house is stressful to be in and I like to feel relaxed in my home, especially since I spend so much time in it.
*I’ve been leaving some of this to a fantastic company called Dura Cleaning. They’re coming in once a week and keeping me sane – worth every penny! I’m still looking for loop holes in the day to day upkeep though!
WOMAN: Although this is a hat I am ALWAYS wearing, sometimes I can forget to acknowledge it! I love being a woman, and feeling beautiful and healthy is important to me and I am trying to fit that goal into my hectic life in a real way.
*I’m feeling healthier than ever – been running outdoors, more often than not with my sidekick Bailey, a rescue golden lab cross.
SUPER MOM: I think most moms take their role of being someone’s mother very seriously. I love being a mom to my wonderful 2 year old, Ysabella. Being my first child I am always reading parenting books and researching things online to make sure I do things from a knowledgeable place… There are so many things to consider and I feel very strongly that every decision I make as a parent directly affects her development and shapes the person she will be. This is a category that I will be adding to soon…
WIFE: My husband and I have only been married for three years, and I’m still learning a lot about what it means to be his wife. This is another category that I’m planning on expanding on soon…
*UPDATE, we’ve been married for over 4 years now… it’s been a very hectic crazy year though… hence my lack of new posts!
GOOD SAMARITAN: I love the feeling that I get doing something for someone else. I do some volunteer work for Lawyer’s Right’s Watch Canada that helps me feel connected to the unfair things that are happening to people around the world that we can often forget about living in Canada. I also sponsor two World Vision children and donate to other causes throughout the year. I am always looking for a way to give back, and I’ve got tons of ideas and I plan to share them to inspire others to join me! I also hope to hear what others are doing to give back.
ARTIST, AUTHOR ETC: There are so many other things that I am, and that I hope to become… keep checking back, this blog will grow with.
